I was born in Durban and schooled at DGHS. After school I studied pharmacy and obtained my Diploma in Pharmacy in the early 80`s.
Being adventurous and of a ‘calculative impulsive’ nature, I ventured into the science of latex and by 1985 partnered with a French and Chinese company to erect a surgical latex glove plant in Canelands, KZN. This company, Union Drug (now called Central Medical) still stands today and supplies all state hospitals with surgical and examination gloves. In 2006 I bought a boutique guesthouse in Franschhoek, Western Cape, which today has expanded to a 14 suite establishment with a 4 hectare lavender field called Lavender Farm Guest House. My pride and joy! My pharmacy and medical knowledge inspired me to partner with Dr Len Nel, a top SA dermatologist. Today we are proud of our global reputation of our laser clinic, Nel Skin Care in Umhlanga, Durban.
